Biking, Football Games, and Smelly Buses

Hello there internet on this two week anniversary of my being in Portland!

Things have been fitting into place, and I starting to settle into my new home. My half basement (room) is pretty great actually. Peanut/Anna and I have spent weeknights watching Gilmore Girls and it’s the greatest.

This week I had my first biking adventure. I biked to the post office to pick up money orders for my security deposit and rent payments. I’m an adult. It’s weird. It was kind of scary riding on the main road and all (I would NEVER do it in Boston, even with the bike lanes) but everyone does it here. There are tons of bike lanes. It feels ten million times safer biking here vs. Boston. ANOTHER THING. The public transportation here is wonderful! honestly, the MAX is cleaner and less crowded than the T. It’s also easier getting off and on. I’ve fallen in love with Portland Public Transportation, PPT if you will. Well… there were two minor hiccups on the bus yesterday though. The 20 was running late (by 30mins) so I had to get on the 12 and then get on the MAX at Pioneer Square so I could get to JELD-WEN for my training. Also coming home from the PSU game, the bus reeked of weed… I thought it was hilarious though because the girl standing in front of the door was totes the culprit.  PERFECT TRANSITION!

Speaking of JELD-WEN stadium, I got a part-time job! I working at a Portland landmark! I had my training last night and worked my first game. It was the PSU Vikings vs. Eastern Oregon. The Vikings won. I think? I may (or may not) have asked my coworker what inning they were in. I TOTALLY MEANT QUARTER. I SWEAR. meep, I was having high school flashbacks. Good ol’ SHS Marching Band. I scanned tickets. It was interesting to see all the people going to the game. It wasn’t too bad… but I’ll let you know after my first Timbers game on the 7th. I’ve also got a part-time nannying job. 3-6pm, Monday-Friday. All I need is a Part-Time job at a music store and all be golden.

I had lunch at the famous Brunch Box food cart. It was beautiful. Yes, I did need to take two lactaid pills. But miraculously, they worked. I enjoyed the YouCanHasCheeseburger for my lunch/dinner. Two grilled cheese sandwiches for a bun, burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. I had to try it once right?

Alright, I’m off to shower. I’ve planned out my biking errands for the day. Until next time internet.
